Hey downunder,
A hearty welcome to the Hobie Forum. Yep-lots of folks have rigged trolling motors to kayaks. However, in head-to-head tests, it turns out the Mirage Drive pedal system will permit the same speed as an electric motor. Here are a few links to get you started. Have fun!

G'day Apalache,
thanks for posting the websites, very interesting, they give me some really good ideas, only issue for me would be weight on one side however i guess outriggers would assist stability.i will be down in Sydney (300klms south from home)in July to look at buying the outback fisherman(hope its a current 2006 model and not old stock!!).very limited suppliers in my State, most only carry limited stock and hence comparison of models difficult, the forum and guys like you are a godsend when trying to make the right decision.
thanks again from Downunder
ps.any outback owners with motor and pics out there?
