Hello

Can anyone please help me im wanting to purchase a new hobie tiger jib (The new cut) but I am quite scepticle about the difference, could you please help me out and tell me the advantages and disadvantages of the new jib compared with the old jib? Also if any on would be so kind to draw or find a diagram and measurements of the new jib I would be very very gratefull.

Thanks

I think the newest jib cut was only changed so that it would be suitable for use with the self-tacker. A shorter foot, a taller head and a change to the angle of the clew plate. Old jibs do still work with the self tacker but you're limited to where you can attach the jib sheets to the clew plate, and with the new jib made for the self-tacker you're again able to use the full range of holes in the clew plate.

Thanks for replying so quickly that helps alot knowing that, but having the sail area lower shurely has an advantage? As I have just recently bought a self taker for my boat and my old jib has seen better days I would like to get a new one so if it would be possible if anyone has the measurements of the new jib I would be very gratefull of them as I have an amazing local sailmaker that will make me one.

Cheers

Look here for a comparasion of the jib cut for the self-tacker to the original jib cut, before the self tacker.

We had the measurements at onetime. We wanted to measure each jib to see if they equaled the same square footage - and they did. They are just cut differently.
Sorry I couldn't help.

Hi Thanks For the Link to The F18 rules pages, this is the old jib though and is not the new cut. What I really need is some one who would be willing to measure their new jib and post the measurements. Please!!

Thanks
