I got out 3 times this week once with my daughter
and mostly light winds which was best for getting the hang
of it. also best not to run over a sand bar and have both rudders
kick
up and lose steering with spin up. but got it down ok. snuffer works very well
three patches on sail with rings added by me. dousing it don't let too much sheet out
singlehanding most of the time will try to get daughter to do more video
and post

Hey Matt,
Does the spinnaker kit for $1680 include the sail, too? My local dealer is quoting me $2391 for a spinnaker on a Getaway.
Thanks!

The kit (#20999020) is a complete kit including the spinnaker itself for $1680.00 (plus shipping)
Dealers make this honest error all the time because we list the spinnaker by itself (for replacement) just beneath the part listing the complete kit - so they accidentally will order a kit + another spi... we will always call them to correct them on their mistake and make sure they didn't mean to buy 2 sails - honest mistake, just let him know you want the kit and it is complete - if they question that answer, have them talk to the part dept. at Hobie Cat directly for clarification.

LOVE my spin whacker! Makes downwind runs fun instead of boring.
Still trying to figure out a non-dramatic way to douse it, though. My wife has the helm as I hold onto to it (and baby, does it pull!) while we run, screaming "Geronimo" (Watch "Wind" if that eludes you) all the while, then head up and pull the dousing side of the halyard and stuff it into the snuffer. It's whipping and making expensive noises as I pull it out from under the leeward bow.
