The rudder lever on my new AI hull makes a dreadful squeaking noise and the rudder mechanism is much stiffer than the old one, even out of the water. I had a feel inside and I can definitely feel the vibration which is causing the squeak is coming from the rudder lever pivot. It feels like a spring washer is catching or something, but I can't see inside (ah, my kingdom for a colonoscope).
Anyone come across this? Matt?

Chris,
If you have a digital camera set it to macro and take pics through the hatch. Try squirting some Lanox (or similar) around that area.
Is it the same noise as can be heard on the rudder replacement video clip?

On the original AI rudder controls we had some that squeaked or clicked. We finally found that rotating the spring in place cured it. Worth a try?

Thanks Stringy and Bob. I can feel it's definitely a spring doing it, but I can't rotate it. I'll try and reach in there with a set of multigrips, when I can find mine . I have a 25 acre tool shed.
