Here is my new ride. Image
I had a great time at lake Isabella Friday before this storm moved in... Very cold, windy, and choppy, but I had a great time! 2,000 grins per hour (GPH). I have a lot to learn but will enjoy every second.

Question... I am storing my island on talic stands Image Are these safe to store the hull of the island itself on? I don't want to distort the hull. I have the stands approx. 3.5 feet from each end and 9 feet in the middle unsupported.

As long as the strap (saddle?) is wide and the tops or sides of the legs don' push into the hull, it should be great.

Congrats, and many years of great sailing!

I've stored 2 AIs on similar stands, but, I store them on their rails (side). I've done it for years w/o problem.

Ah, that new Hobie smell. (sniff) Nice cherry red paint job there. 8)

Hobie sells the talic in their catalogs, so I'm sure it's fine with them. They show it bottom down. rated up to 100lb. so OK for the AI hull only - no amas.

Is that a new white reinforcement strip on the sails lower edge, or did you not take off the protective tape yet?

It's a reinforcement strip sewn onto the sail. Is this a new addition to the 2012 models?

Thanks, I turned my AI onto its side this morning and moved the stands closer together ( 5 feet from both ends). The hill wants to roll over so I have a bungee connected to a carrying handle and secured to the wall.

Yes, I have a strap from the ceiling on each boat.

Apparently. And badly needed.

Your battens have a lot of cord sticking out, which may indicate that they could be tied better. Good idea to check these and tie them very securely, to your satisfaction.

Or maybe Hobie added excess line there, but this is not like them

Enjoy the new ride, Trapper! Be safe.

Thanks for noticing and the words of wisdom and experience. The battens are sticking out approx. 2 inches, I thought that was a little excessive... They're tied very securely but I will check tomorrow at the lake and make sure that they are fully inserted.
