HELP!..... I`m new, first time on the forum.
I haven`t made up my mind yet. Do i purchase the Hobie PA14 or the PA12 or neither one . My concern is storage. I have a garage and plan to hoist my kayak up to the ceiling. My question is, are the Pro Anglers to heavy to hoist in a hot garage?

I would recommend the PA12 depending on high you ceiling is. The 12 is not as wide and I am guessing you will hoist up with it on its side? I am not strong enough to hoist a PA 14 up with arms and pulley only... therefore I have used a boat wench with para-cord for the hoisting. works great and I can let my wife go inside and not have to help me get the yaks in the air.

Good luck with you choices.

PS: the PA12 is a lot cooler and unless you just have to have the 14, I would go with the newest technology that hobie has out for now.

Thanks for the info. I didn`t know they ( Pro 12,14 ) had to be lifted on their sides. I only have a 9ft ceiling. I didn`t want any of the other models because i want to stand in mine.

Having a wife AND a boat wench is dangerous!

The difference between "wench" and "winch" is greater than that of "truck" and "trick."

"Honey, a young woman sold me a trick..."

Check out the Harken Hoister.

The 200 pound four point system has an 8:1 mechanical advantage so either PA should be pretty easy. You can then use a wench or a winch to help you if you need it.

Whatever you decide - just don't hoist the kayak by the bow or stern handles - this will cause a total failure of the hull - they aren't designed to hang from these points. Use a sling or some sort to completely support the load - not the handles...ever.
