You may be able to get decent patch sewn on the tramp to extend it's life for a while.

While there are cheaper tramps than the Hobie brand, I tend to discourage people from buying them as they do not last anywhere near as long or through any comperable abuse. I have had two Hobies that were over 20 years old when I bought them. They both had original tramps and they were both in great shape. I replace my H18 tramp this season and it was 24 years old.

Also, if you plan on racing you will need a Hobie tramp to be class legal.

Take the tramp to a sail loft or possibly an upholstery shop. They can sewn a patch.

If the heat weld seam is letting go, contact a dealer and request a warranty replacement. On an old tramp (out of warranty) we can get a highly discounted one for you if a defect is present.

Sounds like some one might have laced the tramp to tight. I've laced a friends tramp with bungee cord. It seems to help distribute the load more evenly when pressure if applied near a gromet putting the load on several rather than just one gromet.

Perhaps that might help your tramp out. Falling onto a bungeed tramp is more fun as well.

I have the same problem with my tramp.

Is it possible mine is too tight too. I did not use any tools and just tightened it by hand. How tight is too tight?

If the tramp material (that is doubled over at the grommets) is seperating, the weld is bad. We can replace those if within warranty or offer an adjusted cost if older.

I would offer a 20% discount on a new trampoline for a boat that is 5-6 years old.

thanks matt, i'll compare that cost to what a sailmaker would charge me to patch it....my jib also tore, so that might be the next big purchase..
