I was wondering if anyone has figured out a way to scupper mount a Humminbird transducer? I really don't want to deal with an arm on the side of my PA and it seems like it would be possible to make some sort of mount that would work? I noticed Humminbird makes a through the hull mount but I really don't want to cut a hole and worry about leaks.

I have the Lowrance scupper mount but I'm not sure if you can use if for the Hummingbird right out of the box. It's a pretty simple set-up so I would think you could use it, even if you have to mod it a little. Take a look at the install video and see what you think:

That's a slick way of mounting a transducer! I noticed that my Humminbird transducer has a bolt that may work on the Lowrance scupper mount. I'm curious if anyone has ever tried using the Lowrance mount with a Humminbird transducer...I know that is probably "taboo but sure looks like an easy mount option? Thanks!

If you cut holes in the yak, make sure the hole is above the water line. Not sure in the post where you were going to cut a hole, so i gave you my 2 cents worth... Good Luck

I'm not exactly sure what holes that need to be drilled that you are refering to? The scupper transducer mount fits inside one of the scupper holes that already exist on the PA.

Jim's, from what I can see with doing a quick search for the transducer. The hummingbird design has two outside brackets with center open, from there the bolt is used. The lowrance transducer is a single bracket with a mounting hole.
I don't see why you couldn't mount the hummingbird to the lowrance mount. May need to use a spacer between the lowrance mount spacing and get a longer bolt, looks like its 1/4 or 5/16.

The home centers in the hardware section have nylon spacers of different lengths and dia.. Worse case is you'd have to either drill a larger hole in the spacer or cut it shorter.

why not mount from a Bung to RAM adapter on one of the rear bungs? I can get you supplied with an aluminium adapter for about $50 shipped to the US...

run the cable through a modified bung plug, and use a set of RAM mounts to attach your transducer...

akin to:

and similar to seen in this video around 2:50....

Any idea how they seal up that notch in the plug where the cable runs through?

A little smear of silicon, and the bung is above the waterline on a non-PA Hobie...

I bought one of these from unrealshots and I'm amazed at the product. The fit and finish is beautiful! Mine didn't have the notch in the plug so I'm still going to have to drill a hole for the transducer cable to run through. I can't believe no one here in the states has mass produced these things. As he said the drain plug is above the waterline and the aluminum bung came with a rubber grommets to seal it up when fully screwed in. I'm just waiting on my dealer to get a shipment in of the Humminbird 587ci HD DI units in so that I can get this thing mounted up!

What's the risk of deformation and ultimate tear-out with extended use/drag on the transducer? The aluminum mount is not going to flex. The plastic hull is. Are you counting on the transducer arm to do all the flexing, or are you also reinforcing the hull to prevent failure in the bung hole? Just curious. Thanks.

Here's another great idea for a transducer scupper mount! It's designed for Lowrance transducers but according to the Cabela's rep it will work with Humminbird. There is a bolt hole in the mount that can be used with some enginuity that would match up with Humminbird transducers.

I would think it would be a little bit of a disadvantage having a transducer mounted in the rear of your PA (such as the plug mount mentioned above? You likely wouldn't receive signals until you are almost past the line of sight of the transducer?
