A freebie boat everyboby knows is not really free! Such is the case with a Hobie 14 I just inheirited: it needs tramp and mainsail or no-go. And new stuff will be over $900 when I can see whole boats on trailers sell for that much or a lot less. Too bad Hawaii is so far away, and I am no Polynesion voyager.

So, anybody have a lead on used Hobie14 mainsail and/or tramp? I can do w/out battens, and the boat is non-turbo, it is hull #1039, that's a hint that Turbo hadn't even been invented at the time! Old timer from the 70's.

Thanks for any help or ideas where to look :!:

Battens aren't just for looks, they have a purpose. Without them the sail won't hold it's shape and your performance will be seriously degraded. I think that upwind performance would be particulary bad.

My two cents worth.

I'm in the same boat. (yeah, I can hear the groans now...) Putting 5247 back together. Sunapee, NH. Need the same, Tramp and sail. Know of a place in Tampa makes them for <200.Sail is the big deal for me. New is 7-8 bills. Consider me 2nd in line.
Thanks,
Bill
