I need a spray gun to spray gelcoat. It needs to have a large needle, like 2.0mm or bigger if possible. CHEAP! I can find them for about $110 or so. Anybody know a better deal? I'm doing the whole Hobie 16 over, need to save money everywhere I can.

I know this aint what your asking for, but if you want to save money try roll and tip.

I recently saw a guy do his whole hulls on Thebeachcats.com with roll and tip, and they came out perfect.

Preval is great. But I'm shooting the whole boat. Top, bottom, total overhaul!! Huge and wonderful project. I guess $110 isn't so bad when you look at the big picture. I just figured someone might have knowledge about cheap guns.

You can get bigger tips for the Harbor Freight HVLP guns.. The HF part number for the 2.2 should be 25942....

and I know the 'professional' comes with a 1.8 tip..

You can find coupons to buy the guns for next to nothing.. 10 bucks for the 'cheap one' and 30 bucks or so for the 'pro' if you look hard enough..

I have also heard of people drilling the tips out..

I use these guns quite a bit for shooting primer and small projects... They work well enough.. but are throw away tools for sure..

sometimes quality equipment will pay for itself pretty fast..

E&S Model 100 Gelcoat Dump/Spray Gun Very easy to use and batter yet cleaning is as easy as throwing away a cup.
