I'm thinking of going with this aussie set up. Is the jib different on an aussie halyard system? Is the cut of a new jib the same as they were in 1989?

Jib remains the same. With the Aussie system the 3:1 purchase moves to between the head of the jib and the tang. Stock 3:1 is done at the base of the mast.
