Has anyone on here coverted their center hatch (the one right in front of the seat) to a live well? I would use the livewell for live shrimp.

I haven't heard of it being done, but that's not to say it hasn't been done. I think your better bet is to do a search on kayak baitwells or livewells and do one of the DIY ones that would sit in the tankwell behind you.

I really like having the tackle storage in that hatch between my legs. Keeps me more organized.

Just got done messing around in my garage.

I used duct tape to tape the 4holes at the bottom of the bucket. Then i attached the bubble box on the lid of the center hatch with some string.

I would say if it works for you that's great! That's a different way to do a livewell, but it looks like it works just fine.

The one great thing about this forum is that we can post different solutions or modifications on the PA. I'm sure someone else will see your mod and use it.

That looks interesting, but there is something unsettling about putting water inside the hull.

That's only 5 quarts in that hatch. That's on 1.25 gallons in there. Not to much to affect anything.

It's probably ok on calm waters .......... I'm not sure I'd like it if it got a little rougher ........ the front hatch can be a little unbalancing sloshing around in a slight chop. I also don't like getting stuff out of that hatch out in the water. I weigh @ 260 and it's a little (just a little) tippy in waves when I have to open it and get something out. But Hey ........ great if it works for you .........

Not sure what u mean. This is the center hatch right in front of the seat. U don't even have to move from the seat to open this hatch. Very easy to get to. It's a lot easier than reaching behind u to get bait.

I think it looks great and for certain types of fishing where only a small amount of water is necessary and you don't want the drag of something over the side this is a very good idea, thanks for posting.

Can I ask where you're keeping your tackle now?
