So I got a new standing rigging set for my 1977 14 from Salty Dog.
All the new stuff checks out length wise to the wire length chart here...http://www.hcana.hobieclass.com/site/ho ... eGuide.doc

But when I stand the mast it has way to much rake (mast base binds up and stops dont hit) and all my adjusters need to be maxed out tight. I plan on calling Salty Dog tomorrow or Tuesday. I want to rig the boat with the original rigging again just to double check the lengths of the wires that came with it are ok before I call.

Does anyone know if indeed the lengths changed over the years? Guessing they did to get more rake. Also the old 4 screw style bow tangs are located a bit farther back on the hull vs the newer single bolt style.
Comparing the new vs. old stretched out on the floor...the old shrouds are 2" or so longer than the new ones and the old forestay is a good 4" shorter and the old bridle wires are 1" shorter.
Hoping they will work something out with me as the new stuff is un-useable.

Is your boat a 14 turbo with jib furler? If so, the length of the pigtail with swivel has varied over the years. If you order a new one from Hobie I think it is 12 inches. A lot of older pigtails are 15-18 inches which gives rather extreme rake.

I got a reply from Salty Dog today. Seems Hobie raked the mast as far back as possible around 1982.
My measurments on the original Hobie marked rigging is as follows...
(measured from eye to eye stretched on a nail, from bearing surface to bearing surface)
Forestay: 12' 3 1/2"
Bridles: 5' 1/4"
Shrouds: 15' 5"
Hoping they will make me some new rigging that will work on my old boat!
