Hello. I am considering buying a 2004 Getaway for freshwater lake family recreation. Two questions:

1) The seller disclosed The following:

Only other thing is some stress cracks at the top of the back crossbar that have been there since I bought it new and the dealer assured me they were not a problem and they haven't been. Hobie said the same thing.

Should I be concerned? How much would this cost to replace?

2) The seller was asking $5500 and is now willing to sell for $5000. Includes a trailer, 3 life vests, 2 paddles and sails, tramps, and everything else, other than above, is in excellent condition. Is this a reasonable price?

Thank you for your help.

Stress cracks in the aluminum crossbar since new??? Doesn't sound right to me...should have been replaced under the original warranty. Price of the crossbar should be deducted from sale price IMHO.

Is this the one in Valley Forge, PA?
I was looking at it on C'list but don't know if I can put out $5K...
It's probably a good deal but the listing didn't mention stress cracks.
The crossbars look pretty 'beefy'- I wonder how they could be overstressed... overloading?
Did Hobie have any QC problems with beams on the Getaways?
If I still had a big family I'd probably buy it- this boat is probably overkill for me.

Are the cracks in the plastic hulls or the actual cross bar? The plastic hulls cannot be repaired, so that would worry me. If the cracks are in the cross bar I wouldn't sweat it because you can replace that bit, but then again you can buy new hulls.

5K seems an ok price.

Hi,

It looks pretty good....

I'm not sure of where you are located but I am selling a Hobie Getaway 2011 for $5200. The boat is in great condition and also comes with the wings.

Call me at 305 345 4104 if you are interested. I could send you pictures and give you more info about it.

Thanks,
