I have a couple of places that I want to lay carpet that will match the already installed places on the 12. The two areas I have in mind are the deck along side the seat on both sides. When I store the rods in the rod storage tubes, the reels are laying on the deck. I have noticed that this deck is getting scratched up plus possible damage to the reels.

Does anyone know if we can purchase this from Hobie or what mfg is making these floor pads?

The folks at Hook1 (http://www.kayakfishinggear.com) make an adhesive backed material called "Silent Traction". It comes it various patterns and I'm sure they probably have one that would suit you. I have applied some of it in the same areas of my PA14. The stuff works great! The adhesive on the back holds the pieces very well, but if you have to pull it back off or adjust it...it can be done.

Here's a shot of mine. I will probably get some more and make a custom pattern in the rear deck well. The material is easy to cut and can be used in a lot of areas.

What you're looking for is Hydro Turf. It's quite popular in the mud motor world but is found in many marine applications. They have several "tread" patterns and come in a rainbow of colors.

If you decide to try the Silent traction sheets like I have, get the 2 sheet pack.

It can be purchased in other patterns besides the diamond pattern. Call them and talk to Chris Stewart. Great guy. If you order anything from them, he'll send you a sample along for you to evaluate it. I've been very happy with the material. It stays put even after many washings or hosing off the interior of the PA.

There are ways of getting around paying full price. There is a way to by scraps and odd sized pieces that is a decent amount cheaper. I'll just have to find the link.
