I simply glued a small "keychain" compass to the front of the center hatch. It isn't very precise, but it would help me find the boat launch if a fog came up. I don't have a picture of it right now but I'd take one if you'd like.

If your fish finder has a built-in GPS, you may be able to use that as a compass. My Eagle Cuda S350 Map has a display mode that shows your heading on a compass rose that rotates around as the boat turns. Not as sensitive as a magnetic compass, but it does not "hang up" with pitching in waves, and is plenty sensitive to keep you on a steady course without visible references.

Compass is requirement for big water, at least in Canada. Plus I would not be betting my life on an electronic piece of gear like a GPS holding up or not running out of batteries.

They have 2 very nice compasses with large, easy to read markings you can see 5 ft. away without straining your eyes. I purchased the Sea Rover, but that was before I knew about the Nightquest. The Nightquest allows you to see the compass markings at night and only costs a few dollars more than the Sea Rover, so I might buy that one also and use it for night fishing

I think this setup was best for me without drilling any more holes, plus it seats in plain view while you using the, mirage drive.

I don't have pictures but I just mounted a decent compass on a piece of PVC tube and put it into the mast hole. I used a piece of bungee to hold it in place on the eye mounted below it. It works great and I can remove it easily to protect it.
