Hey everyone, I have a 2011 Odyssey and installed the Sidekick setup to help with stability on the bigger lakes I paddle.

Well somehow the last time I used the kit I lost one of the air fill plugs.

No problem (I thought) I'll just have my dealer order me a couple of them. He called back with the news that Hobie does not supply the plugs (the get the units from a "distributor") and the only way I could get one was to order the entire pontoon.... ???? What???

Has anyone else had to replace the plug and if so where did you find it?

From my measurements it appears to be 22-24mm fine thread. I am still searching the 'net to see if I can locate a replacement and if I do find one will post here.

I searched the forums and did not find anything on the plugs so I apologize if I missed it.

Thanks!

Did you check down at the hardware store ? There`s gotta be something that will fit in there.

There's got to be the occasional popped AMA that gets returned. You would think someone would be able to find one somewhere for you. At least you have one to try to match it with something.

Ahh there is the rub... Once I start to lean I go over. I have an inner ear problem that acts up at the worst times.

Still no luck... Irritates me a lot that Hobie will not stand behind a product they sell. To the point that the next 'yak I get will not be a Hobie. (I know it is a small thing but it is preventing me from going out on the big lake).

It (the plug) looks to be a 22-24mm and so far I have found nothing to fit.

We do "stand behind the product". We have just never had a request for a replacement cap at this point, so don't have that part in stock. We are sourcing them now and will have some in the future.

Well it is the new year and to date I have not found a replacement plug. Thought I'd check back here to see if there had been any movement...

As a very last resort you might try locating one of those cheap sleeper air matresses. Some have a valve that looks very similar to to the sidekicks. I would hit a couple thrift stores in your area, you might get lucky. Very disappointing that Hobie doesn't make this part available to customers.

Hats off to Hobie and especially to mmiller as he kept in touch and, through him, Hobie has sourced the plugs. I now have a new pair giving me a spare all at a very reasonable price. Looking to get my wife her own 'yak and, yes, it will be a Hobie after all. Lake MI here I come!

Thanks again Matt!
