I have really enjoyed my short time of owning and using my Hobie Revo 13. Now that I am more settled in the saddle, I am ready to make some modifications that, I hope, will make my time on the water even better.

First item at hand is the drink holder. I'm a big guy and my legs sit pretty wide when I peddle. This makes the Revo drink holder completely useless for anything but keeping spare change for tolls.

I have resorted to balancing my drink on top of the center hatch. It works well when I am fishing and nothing is biting. This led me to the idea of having a drink holder on the hatch and securing it with Velcro but this would only be a temporary solution.

Today, I saw the YakAttack GearTrac as well as the mighty mount and this seems like it may be the way to go. If I attach a GearTrac, I can attach a ball mount with a drink holder that can be slid forward and back as well as have an adjustable height. Additionally, I could attach other items to the ball mount (or tandem ball mount) such as a cell phone holder, compass, cutting board, or a tool and lure holder.

My main concern with this set up would be that the hatch plastic is rigid and may fail with constant point flexion.

I wanted to throw the concept out there to get some feedback on the idea and see if anyone has done anything similar.

Regards,

Mike

GOOP a coozie down on the hatch lid. Simple, light, no holes needed.

That would work but I am thinking of something more permanent and clean looking. Not "tricked-out", but rather, "rigged-out".

Maybe working off a ball mount, put up a stalk you can stow or mate a ball mount with a cell phone/cup mount for a car catalog. There's some interesting stuff for mounting in a center console cup holder for hands-free phones that'll give you a stalk.

Some pix of semi-related stuff/ideas

Image Seal-off the center hatch area to use a heater. I cut a bucket to fit behind the ring.

No, no, no! You close the hatch and pressurize the hull via the drain plug to remove dents... not the other way around!

Thanks for offering some good and some "crappy" ideas.

I am awaiting delivery of my YakAttack Mightymount (along with the new GT90 and 8' Park and Pole) and, to it, I will be attaching the RAM Level Cup using a YakAttack Screwball. I also plan on using that attachment point for my iPhone and perhaps a book/Kindle platform for the wife.

I am more psyched about putting the new GT90s on the gunwales adjacent to the Mirage Drive.

Pictures to follow...
