My two sons and I went for four days at Oak Island, NC off Cape Fear (launch area: http://binged.it/NxkpVG) with our cat for our first ocean splash. Still learning and we learned a bunch this trip (plus going back to another thread: thanks for the tips on long distance trailering). Here's a few snaps.

Let's see your Carolina pix

[one more time: shout out to Genmar Star and Gary for lots of tips]

Hey Jon. Great pix. Am very familiar with the area you sailed. Pretty there huh? Was your trip within the last couple weeks? Strange but I was on BaldHead on Sat the 4th, down at the Shoal's Club, and just might have seen you offshore... Of course I always have an eye out for sailboats, and I seem to remember seeing your blue sail.... If that was you, how cool.
Another destination on your way from Charlotte area is Lake Waccamaw (assuming you travel 74-76). It's a fun lake to sail.

Hey badgerfan - we arrived Tuesday the 7th and stayed off the western end of the island this trip. I know you saw my post about the rest of the trip viewtopic.php?f=14&t=44400 (further down) and the fun we had. Agreed, gorgeous area.

Waccamaw looks big and open and fun. Its not going to stain my hulls tan will it? Wait... they are already tan

Hey Jon,

Nice Pics! I'm glad the local guys were able to help you out.

And hey, if you ever need to brown up your hulls a little more come join us on Lake Jordan. The wind is spotty, but scum stains are a guarantee!

Man, I miss the beach! Looks like you had great weather.

Jordan is on our list, GD_NC. Here's a cove on Lake Norman north of Charlotte @ Beattys Ford Access Area, in late July, getting us primed for brown water. (the main lake channel is a lot clearer :))

I just picked up my first cat and looking to get in the water ASAP! I live in Durham about 15 minutes from one of the many boat launches on Jordan. Was thinking of heading out this weekend for the maiden voyage and to watch the CSC races at vista point.

Any time you want to head out let me know. I sailed a sunfish for a while but I was ready to move up to a bigger boat that my wife could enjoy but she doesn't always want to go out. I'll probably soloing half the time.

Jim
