What's the latest beach cart preference for the TI?

Are there any problems with using these plug-in carts on the TI?

....assuming they are even compatible with the TI.

We have a new dolly available for the TI - works great - here is a post with the details: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=39777&p=161701&hilit=tandem+island+dolly#p161701

TANDEM ISLAND DOLLY AVAILABLE NOW

We have created this cart to more easily carry the Tandem Island. It is very similar to a Catamaran style “Cat Trax”. Available with hard surface wheels or with soft sand beach wheels.

Easier to load and unload than a scupper cart. Carry the weight of the Tandem Island with ease over sand or hard surfaces. A wide cradle easily supports the weight. Does not use scuppers for support or alignment which prevents scupper damage. Handle allows easy cart manipulation when unloaded and easier cart insertion under the boat. Acts as a “kick-stand” to hold the cart upright for loading.

Quick pin – removable handle and wheels for compact storage.

Yes, I have seen this one too. But I was not clear why the much less expensive plug-in carts are not good enough?
What I like about the plug-ins is that they are small and stow-able. I have a small vehicle

The TI is a special boat - and being nearly 200 lbs - it's just too much for a plug-in cart, so we developed the dolly with the cradle.

The issue with using the plug in cart is the scuppers get overloaded and can damage the hull easily - especially if you leave it sitting on the cart for any amount of time.

Best to go with the dolly, the Plug in cart is too marginal and we don't recommend it anymore.

I came across someone that inserted tennis balls between the plug in and the bottom of the hull. Does such a solution resolve the issue you describe?

What is a scupper?

No - tennis balls won't help, you will still push the scupper's up and will eventually damage the hull to the point that it will fail. Just get the Dolly, and you'll be happy... yes its a touch more $ but it is required - sorry that we don't have a better answer for you.

$499 just seems to much

Plenty threads here about building your own cart. That is not cheap either.

The Hobie cradle cart w the hard wheels seems like the better deal.

I have the TI Dolly with the hard wheels. Well made and I love it.

I have the plug in cart with beach wheels (for my AI)

If I buy the TI dolly with tuff-tires, can I use the beach wheels from the plug-in cart on the dolly?

No. The plug in cart uses the smaller 24cm tires with the quick release hubs.

I have learned a lot about transporting the TI, I have had my hull replaced under warranty and have owned both the scupper cart and the new dolly cart. The new dolly cart solved the problem of over loading the scupper tubes but created more problems for the way I sail. Too big to stow on the TI when sailing and too much bother to take back to the car, a little too pricey to. I returned the cart unused the next day when I realized the problems I faced.
I have made a swivel wheel that is held into the front mirage drive hole and then used the scupper cart in the rear scupper holes. I have set this in the sun with no distortion to scupper tubes or mirage drive at all.
I still use the front scupper tubes when launching after car topping and do not use the front swivel wheel.
So far so good, I store the TI on the wheels and have no problems so far

I have two Outbacks and a TI and I have the big cart for the TI, but like Romenfree said it's just too big. I was using a C-Tug cart for the Outbacks and started using it for the TI. The cart holds 300 lbs will fit in the front hatch, it's light and has big support pads to protect the hull and can be taken apart with no tools if needed. I use the solid tires on mine and have no trouble sliding it under the TI from the water end. I trailer my TI and it is easy to put on while on the trailer also. It works very well for the way I use it.
You might want to take a look. “http://c-tug.com/”

Has anyone who has this new beach dolly figured out an easy way to get the TI onto it after you pull boat onto beach? We recently purchased one and can do with with some work with two people by lifting boat onto it, but it's not easy. Would like to figure out an easier way as I'd like to sail solo and not sure I can pull the cart placement off solo.

Suggestions / tips?
