I was surprised to discover that the Mid North Coast Hobie Island Club, which I started about a week ago, is the first one in the southern hemisphere!. I know there are heaps of Islands in Australia, including some not far away, so it would be great if we can get together.

Therefore, on Sunday 25th November, we plan to meet at the beach next to Great Lakes Sailing Club, in Booti Booti National Park, a few kms south of Forster.

As you can see, we will be facing a nice big stretch of water. Picnic facilities are available too.

Please send me a PM if you plan to attend.

Can't make it Tony,... The sailing trip from Perth, Western Australia, would clash with other commitments on the dates surrounding the get together! 8)

Another time?

Jim, that's a bit lame, the prevailing westerlies across the Bight would get you here in no time

Hoping that you find plenty of fellow Island owners over there
Tony

Hi Tony. I'd really like to make it up that way for a sail. Could you recommend a good spot to stay the Saturday and perhaps the Sunday nights ?

No probs, that would be cool if you can come (and this of course applies equally to all the rest of the Central Coast/Lake Macquarie tribe :P ), Forster/Tuncurry has accommodation options covering the spectrum, so it largely depends on your budget.

A really nice place is Lakeside Holiday Park, which has onsite cabins plus caravan/camping sites
http://www.lakesideresortforster.com.au/
Also, Forster Beach Holiday Park ditto, ditto
http://www.forsterbeachcaravan.com.au/
and there are numerous motels etc of all levels.

Send me a PM and let me know your preferences, and I can do the local digging for you.
Tony

Tony, mate,... It's not the Big Bight, that worries me,... It's the BIG BITES on the way to get to the Bight that concern me a tad!! :o :? :o :?

Yes there a few AIs over this way,... got to hook up a bit more with them,...
Have a good gathering mate,

Jim

Things are looking good, with potentially 5 TIs and 4 AIs so far, which is not too shabby for a first effort. This could be a fun day, so please send your name, Island model, email & phone number etc to me via PM so I can include you in the mailing list

Thanks

Hi Tony,

We don't have our TI yet and we will not get it till probably January at this stage so we wont be able to take part in the November get together. However keep us in the loop for any future meets.

We are in Canberra but also have a holiday home at Port Stephens and will be using our TI on the waterways there as well as on Lake Burley Griffin.

Cheers

Mav
