How cool is that?
http://www.americascup.com/
No more silly carved out mono hulls with swing keels and water ballast pumps.
It's about bloody time, immho.
YAH. let's duke it out on the International Sailing scene with incredibly expensive twin hulled boats run by the best Muscle 'Persons' that money can buy on 72 foot Catamarans.
This event has gotten so expensive that the only way this challenge will happen is if the TV Media picks up the tab from what the Sponsors simply can not afford..(remember, we are living in a worldwide depressed economy).
You as a Catamaran Sailor can simply send your words to the TV Networks to voice your support for this amazing event.
(Keep in mind, that the America Cup has been highly definitive towards future design in high speed sailing).
Making this a twin hulled challenge will change sailing (and what gets built) for years to come. (I am sure that thought is not lost on Hobie.com)

Keep Sailing Brothers and Sisters, and catch the `Wave`.

Not at all, but remember... hobie.com is not Hobie Cat. That is Hobie surfing mostly. hobiecat.com and hobiekayaks.com is us.

The Americas cup has been gearing up for this event on cats for years. We have been watching and waiting. We took a day off to see the event in San Diego in spring 2011 when the 45 footers were in town. Great fun!
