This might be a stupid idea but I will ask it anyway.

Could the sailing Kayaks be raced? Could a combination of sailing and paddling a one design Kayak be an event withing our existing fleets?

Physical ability would play a huge part in a kayak event as apposed to a sailing only race. (as demonstrated by older and heaver H18 sailors  )

Lake venues only? Different courses?

There's already a set of draft class rules that I developed with input from the Annapolis Hobie Island group and Hobie Cat.

The class rules allow for different use levels of the Mirage drives from none, to tacking assistance only, to full-time use.

The only real problem is that Hobie doesn't want to have it's hands tied on changes to the platform by one-design class rules. It's both a blessing and a curse from their standpoint.
