Has anyone tried to step the mast while sitting on the trailer via a winch located on the upright mast carrier on the trailer? My thought was to take the main halyard and using a shackle at the end of this line and cleated at the other end, attached winch strap at the Y of the mast post and have the port and starboard shrouds attached and start cranking on the winch. Once stepped, attach the front stay and Is this to much weight on the main halward? Would love seasoned wave sailors feedback.

Why bother? It is about as easy as it gets to step a Wave mast. I do it solo every time I take my Wave out.

Two years later, that is still brilliant!

Which block setup are you using?

After you have stepped the mast, is the stepping pin even needed?
