I have a GoPro and it works very well. However, after trying the Drift Stealth Camera, I've ended up using it 99% of the time. The remote on/off control is nice and doesn't require any additional equipment - no wifi required. I believe they've just introduced a new model, even smaller than the original. Video quality is outstanding, although I almost never shoot in the highest resolution mode. Even so, on a 40 something inch big screen television, it's beautiful.

We have the GoPro Camera and have used it quite a bit - sailing [Hobie 16], kayaking, biking, snorkeling, skiing, and some vacation shots. We don't have the remote, but think it would be nice for the Hobie. Easy to mount on just about everything. When trying to decide which camera to purchase, look at the mounting capabilities. They all take great videos.

Any comments on battery life on the GoPro series?
My F16 buddy complains that 'it never lasts'....

Has GoPro released the software update for GP3 Black?

I haven't experienced any problems with battery life and it's very easy to charge - A/C, computer, and I believe with a car charger.
They have a wide variety of simple mounts which allows you to mount this camera just about anywhere. Just be innovative and use your imagination.
Also, I'm technically challenged and have had to contact their Tech Support several times by e-mail and by phone. They were GREAT!

you should have about 2.5 hours depending on what you are doing. if its a problem you can get a big sd card and the battery extension, i think you get like 4 hours i might be wrong

I really like my GoPro... Took a little bit to get used to it, but now I love it. I have the HD Hero 2. I understand the HD Hero 3 is easier to use... :D

a bit more pricey, but this cam was designed for aerobatics. http://www.nflightcam.com/

Probably overkill for a cat.

Thanks for all the input and videos. I'm leaning toward the GoPro Hero3 Black. I want to wait for the remote device app program to be released (last I saw it was to be on 12/14/12). The fish eye lense (170 degree) will take some getting use to, but I understand the need. Some of the other units look good also, but the remote capability of the GoPro, piggy back battery accessory and attachment options look good.
