There's a post in the Wave section that says the 2013 Mid Winters East will be in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, on April 11-14. OSYC is an awesome sailing venue, a club designed primarily for cat sailors, situated on a great beach. Unless something unforeseen comes up, I plan to be there on my 16. Anyone else . . .

Here's the link to the club: http://www.osyc.com/

Thank you! OSYC is my backyard and we can't wait to have you all.

Camping on the grounds, space for a few RVs, if we know you're coming we can make it happen! Winds are big in April. Put your trailer right on the beach or in the grass, plenty of space... (hosted the NACs in 2011 for nearly everything 'except' the huge mends H16/20 class...).

NOR here (and other places...)

Note that the dates have changed from what was originally in the post in the Wave forum.

Actual dates are April 11-14.

Nice catch, Mr. Bounds. I edited my previous post accordingly lest it cause confusion.

I hope we can get some of the 20's from the midwest there. Should be a great three days of racing.

Shoot some of those guys an email. Sometimes you just have to plant the seed.

I think we are planning on sailing our 17s to tune up for the Yankton NAC. I know I will and i'll bet Collins will too. Not sure about the rest...

I would guess there will be a large group of 17's. We have 4-5 coming from Div. 7.

MTM,

Actually, you did plant a seed. I Cc'd you on an email to a bunch of Hobie sailors in Divisions 7 and 14, including a bunch that sail the 20 and won't be competing on a 17. Check your spam filter. Since the list of addressees was rather long, I blind Cc'd everyone out of respect for privacy. If you want me to put you in touch with the 20 sailors that I know, shoot me an email to the address in my profile. I used to be a Division 14 Hobie 20 sailor before I moved to Knoxville last fall. I know most of those guys.

RECAP:

April 11-12-13 Ocean Springs Yacht Club Judi Altman is the primary contact at the club [email protected]

Mark Santorelli is PRO, he's familiar with the area as he ran the Mini Mega a couple years back at this location.

Weather should be spot on, club is beautiful and we will have a good time. Great food planned and the YC is always fun.

Hobie Classes should be heavier in the Wave/16/17 classes PLEASE encourage all the F18 sailors you know to attend as we'll be having an F18 start and this is a full 2 weeks after Spring Fever and a great addition to their schedule.

No primary Hotel but http://www.goldennugget.com/Biloxi/ is very close (first resort west of the YC across the bridge) and we found resonable rates for such a great place.

Please contact Judi or me ([email protected]) with any questions or concerns.

Thanks
cw

I've been asked why it's called Mid-Winters when it's held in April. I presume it used to be held in the winter? And usually further south, I expect?

Just because. You can call it whatever you want, just show up on your 16 Jerome and bring a few extra beers for me!
