Anchors anyone?

It'd have to be a pretty severe wind shift, of the better than 90 degree variety.

There's a whole crew of cat sailors that anchor off one of our local beaches. Every one of them uses a bridle, rudders up, and sheets in the main. Never heard of one flipping. It does seem wrong to have the main sheeted when you're not on the boat, but it seems like the way to do it.

How heavy are your anchors ?

Do you use chain ?

Do you have any way of ditching the anchor in an emergency ?

If you use a bridle, connected to the forward stay points, how do you get at the anchor line to haul the anchor in ?

Can the forward staypoints handle the strain of an anchor when there are waves ?

I have an idea to install a rope between the two forward staypoints on the hulls, with a ring in the middle. The anchor line would then go through the ring and go around the rod under the mast with some kind of quickrelease for emergency.
The forward rope would act as a bridle and the anchor line, can still be secured around the mast rod and released from the tramp.
