Hi,

I have an original rudder mount that I just noticed is welded crooked. The T-bar that the rudder pin goes through is not perfectly perpendicular with the bar that holds the rudder. As a result the tip of my rudder is 3-4 inches to the left of center.

Is there a replacement part or is there an easy repair? I assume it is welded stainless steel? Could I hit the joint with a propane torch and hammer it into position?

Sounds like a warranty issue to me.

This kayak is pretty old. It's just been mainly hanging in a garage, which is why the defect has gone on so long without being noticed.

Maybe not in warranty but would take to Hobie dealer to look at it.

Ok, I "fixed it". I hit the welds with a propane torch and was able to turn it center with a wrench and vice.
