Buddy and I decided to head out this afternoon for one last shot at the ling season. Left Petaluma about 10:40 this morning, got to gerstle cove by 12:10 launched and on the water by 12:30. Worked north aways to some nice pinnacles where I got my personal best 39.25" ling a couple months ago and the wind really started to pick up. It was getting to the point where it was white capping pretty good and by 1:30 we thought we might have to call it without having a chance to fish yet. We decided to stick it out and were glad we did. By about 2pm the wind died down and it was game on. The water up here was much nicer and cleaner than down at Timber Cove where I fished last weekend. Found my spot and hooked a nice 22 inch cab immediately. Decide to pull out the big baits and started getting into the lings. Ended up fishing for about 2 hours then headed back to the barn - got back to gerstle by 4:30pm. Released 5 nice lings, lost 2 Giants (had one around 18lbs shake off 5 feet under the boat and had another heavy one pop off halfway up saw him on my graph as a big big mark - took a good 30 ft run before popping off), and kept 2 lings for fish tacos (I'm so full right now haha). Overall great couple hours on the water and a great cap off to my season. So happy with my pro angler and loving my wife for letting me get it. This is only my 4th time taking it out since I got it in October. Happy new year!
