Hi forum readers.

In 96 days I’m going to take my Hobie Tandem Adventure Island around the Independent State of Samoa to raise money and awareness for the prevention of youth suicide. This has been an adventure in the planning for over a year, and I’m currently fitting out the kayak with an electrics system and all the necessary communications equipment.

It is a solo voyage and will come close to 400kms over 10-12 days. I set off on 22 April 2013 and you can follow the Blog at http://www.kayak4youth.com or on Facebook and Twitter by searching ‘Kayak4Youth’.

For the technically minded, here’s a very rough YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=drI2pHP366w) showing the modifications so far. Once complete, I’ll run through each modification in more detail. As I say in the YouTube, I am making this up as I go (and it is a lot of fun!) so I’d really like to hear any suggestions offered by members of the forum.
I hope you follow the adventure (will be live tracking on the http://www.kayak4youth.com website and on social media) and I’ll keep posting regular updates.

Cheers

Andy (Kayak4Youth)

Outstanding. I hope you'll keep this forum updated with your daily progess. I've long thought the AI and TI could possibly make great expedition craft with a little tweaking here and there. They have already proven themselves in the Watertribe event and trips like yours can only help point out their strengths and weaknesses even more. Best of luck to you.
