Hi all, I have not been around for a while,(I think 88 was the last time I activly raced, does that count as a while?) and am thinking about getting out on the water again. What are the boat counts like in the 18,20, and f18 classes at the Div 3 points regattas? I imagine 16's are still the biggest class, but I am not really built to sail a 16 :)

20s are the most populated
18s are the most laid back
and f18s are the fastest

The 18s race for the red solo cup...!

Where are you sailing?

And the 16s are the most competitive.

You could be a sport, and get a Wave and start the Wave class out west on the right foot.

Boat counts may be found here, but you'll need to do some manual counting:

estimated count

18 H-20's
16 H-16's
7 H-18's

F-18 class is active at most Yacht club events and all but 2 of the Hobie only events. (Woodward and Bodega Bay get very few F-18's)
There are 5 Tigers 2 Wilcats 2 Infusions 2 Capricorns 1 Falcon plus 5 more at Artemis Racing and 2 or three at Oracle racing (very seldom on the bay).

Thanks for all the info. I will have to try to get to a race or two this year just to check it out. The 18 is tempting because I raced it before so it would be easy to jump into but I will admit the 20's and F18's look like more fun to race.

I will be racing out of Visalia, which is in the Fresno area. No funds for this season, but that will change next year. Also, my son will be a Jr in High School next year, so if we are going to sail, we need to get going.
