I don't think they're out yet until Sept. Just order one from your favorite dealer! My local dealer has 4 on order; one already sold! You probably don't want to drive to Escondido though. 8)

Hi Kepnutz,

Yes, he ordered red. If you want to discuss it with him, the owner is Bruce Damon. The store is Nomad Ventures. His e-mail is [email protected] and he should be on the Hobie dealer locator for Escondido (phone # etc.). He has more than one store so e-mail would probably be best. If you come down, we'll have to go out on the lake while you're here. With your speed, we'll probably tour the whole lake in 15 minutes!! We can take my Tandem so you won't leave me in the dust!

Sounds like your friend is a real trooper, and I'm sure he appreciates you including him. We have a Hobie amputee here and he manages pretty well with his Outback.

I've been up to 10.7 (GPS) on a boat wake and the Turbofins were still providing thrust. Matt indicated he had exceeded Turbofin speed, so I'm guessing the AI can push beyond that by a fair margin with a decent wind. Once you get to planing speed, it's getting a second "wind" so to speak. From what I understand, it takes a little technique though. 8)

Try California Canoe & Kayak in Rancho Cordova. CCK has a website. My hibiscus red AI is supposed to be ready end of next week.

Hey dwest!

Next week you're getting delivery of your hibiscus red Adventure Island Trimaran!? That's really not fair. Matt Miller said Hobie is having some trouble with the hardware and can't say when the first shipments go out. You must have an inside track on delivery. Who do you know? And I wanted to be the first kid on the block!

We're told ours are shipping out the 3rd week of September, but there's probably some wiggle in there.

I would think the California dealers would have them before us due simply to proximity to Oceanside.

FWIW - as Jeana explained it to me, any cat-only dealer or kayak-only dealer can get Islands. A dealer doesn't have to sell both lines to be eligible to carry Islands. Though I'm sure top tier dealers will get first crack at Islands.

I just called:

CALIFORNIA CANOE & KAYAK
12401 FOLSOM BLVD. #205
RANCHO CORDOVA, CA 95742
Phone: 1-916-353-1880
E-mail: [email protected]

They tell me my Adventure Island is not in yet but reportedly going to set up a “ship dateâ€
