I currently have an Adventure and an Outback -- I've fished both of these kayaks hard for years; especially the Outback. I've come to appreciate the pros and cons of both hull designs.
I'd like to get a 3rd kayak -- it would be nice to have a 3rd boat when friends visit, and with my 2010 Nissan Frontier truck which is a SB, I don't have a practical way to load the 16' Adventure. The OB more or less fits. About 20% of the time, I'll drive somewhere with the boats.
I'm strongly considering the Revolution 11, as it would easily fit in the truck, along with my OB, and my wife would mainly use it. But I would use it *sometimes*, and I'm 6'2" 210. Since our kayak fishing is done in coastal inshore waters, it's not unusual having to deal with 15kt winds and tight chop, and I associate 'short' with 'slow and easily blown around.' But I'm reading that the 11 is just *slightly* slower than the 13, and probably faster(?) than the OB? (In truth the OB is kind of a tug, but if the day is calm it's bone-dry and an incredibly comfortable platform).
Other options would be the Revo13, or a used OB for about $1400-1500. I've used my friend's 13, and like it more or less. For some reason the seat was uncomfortable, and I don't like the molded handles. I do like the hull profile, though. It would also fit in my truck. I could also get a used OB, and save $500 or so, but I'm leery of not getting the factory warranty.
Bottom line - since it wouldn't be the primary boat, the 11 looks great -- I'm just paranoid that it would be too small.
Thx!
