Hello, I just ordered a hobie pro angler 14 and I am excited. The kayak won't get here until Friday. So I went ahead and bought a Harbor freight small trailer and I been working on modifying it. I bought 3"PVC pipes but I'm waiting on the kayak to install those. If you have any recommendation please let me know. ImageImageImage

Front rest for the front and possible a winch for the steep boat ramps.
You will enjoy the PA alot.
Jim

Thanks guys,
@flyfsh what do you mean front rest?

I also ordered the lowrance elite 5 dsi but I'm not sure if I'm not sure why kind of battery I'm going to run.

You will need to extend the tongue - unless you want to load PA atop of yours and have it clear the roof (of a sedan I guess ) like that - and that would negate the main benefit of trailer (ez (un)loading). I suggest 1 1/2 square perforated galvanized tubing in 6' length for it - this is what I used on 2 of these trailers, with great success. It would "telescope" in/out of the stock tongue rail.

McMaster sells em or visit your local metals place, should be able to score one for under $40. Google for pictures of mine

R11 I already extended the front and I can retracted too. I just need to do the wiring now. I added the ring anchors to the top post and the sides of the trailer. I'm going to use the top rack for my perception pescador. ImageImage

I would have left the plywood deck off. I don't think it will hold up well if you are going to dunk the trailer to unload your kayaks. With the PVC rails alone, you could back that right into the water. You could substitute a couple pieces of uni-strut as cross members to which you can attach your PVC. Nice job on the tongue extension, that should work fine, with maybe a cross member to support the front of you PVC rails.

Thanks Bruce. I didn't think of that. I'll check the uni strut later on. Ill run the wood until it goes out since I already put it on lol. I just got excited and started making stuff.

It's here!! Finally arrived. The arm with the ruler was bent and one of the plastic washers on the rudder control was cut in half but they're working on sending a new one.
I did not see a mirage drive seal but its in the owners manual. Does it come with it or is that something you buy separate.
Here a pic of my new Pro Angler and my pescador loadedImage

I'm not sure about the mirage drive seals. I saw that in the owners manual as well, but mine didn't come with them either. I will be interested to see what others say. Trailer looks great though.

You should have the very latest mirage drive and the owners manual has not been updated to reflect that the seal is no longer required or needed.
The plastic "skirt" has been changed/enlarged to eliminate the seal.....I found this when my PA-14 was delivered 6 weeks ago.

Grats on your new PA!

Bout the seal, I did get one with my kit

But I do wish that a checklist of what is included is more readily available and made more official...

Thanks for the info Dr. Steel. Good to know I don't need that splash guard.

I made the trailer tongue collapsible but it fit just like that in the garage.
Now I have to install the accessories and get ready to put it in the water tomorrow.
