I blew out the locking holes in the drum and need to replace it (81173001)
from normal use after 1 yr it actually blew thru to the next hole so that there is a slot instead of holes.

My question is what other parts will I need to acquire besides a new drum?
Will the drum shaft fit snuggly after swapping etc?

The newest drums for V2 drives have a medal plate molded in so it shouldn't happen again to you.

Same thing happen to one of my drum. The part I picked up at my local Hobie Dealer looks like the old style drum. If your drums are worn, they swing left right, then replace as a pair...

I have not been able to find a supplier that knows about the metal plate... any chance you know the part #?

Hobie mostly uses the same part number on upgraded parts. Should be #81173001 same as the old V2 drums, so not much help.

You can see the plate by looking into the adjustment holes.

This has been in production for quite awhile now, so any stock is likely the newer version.
