Hi All,
I read somewhere that the mainsheet size is 5/16th in or around 8mm.
When I purchased my Hobie it came with 6:1 ratio harken blocks which is wound with 12mm sheet.
Is this correct do you think?
I ask as am looking to replace with a fresh mainsheet.

Thanks
SRG

The Hobie (USA) catalog says 3/8" (9.5 mm), but I (and many others) have gone down a size to 5/16" (8 mm). It's a little harder on the hands, but runs through the blocks much better. 12 mm is WAY too big!

Thanks for you rapid reply :-)
Yep, 12 mm no good at all its actually counter productive, sure its easy to hold but it sticks in the blocks.
I am new to sailing and unfortunately I don't have another H16 to compare to, but I was looking at it and it just looks wrong.
Right then off to purchase a new mainsheet any recommendations? (I am based in the UK, mention it as we may have different names or makes of sheet than to that of the US)

Fyi... Tapered sheets are not class legal on a Hobie 16.

For reference, Salsa and Buzzz are very popular over here. I'm currently using Yale Maxibraid Plus and like it a lot. For many years when funds were more scarce, I used New England Sta-Set.....a good all-around line for the price.
