I have a 2007 Outback...still going strong, and a 2013 Revo 13.
Love both kayaks.

Can't help but wonder why Hobie couldn't make these two easy peasy mods...

First, why can't the mouth of the Sail Mount accommodate a Scotty Rod holder????
Jeez, that'd be sooo great to be able to just drop a rod holder into the hole with no drilling or screwing. And it'd be easy to pull the holder when you plan to use the sail.

Second, the Outback has a tray that runs along the right side of the cockpit. Once you buy a tape-on tape measure, the tray is great for holding a fish for measuring and photographing. For the Revo, I've added a tape measure, but the cockpit rail is so narrow, you can't lay a fish on the rail to photograph it. It slides off. It just seems like it would be a simple and functional modification for a "fishing kayak" to make a slight tray in the cockpit rail that would let you measure and photograph your catch.

Trays require a wider rail. That requires a wider boat, so likely that would be the biggest obstacle to a tray on the Revo. How about a Hog Trough? You could mount to the rail?

There is a rod adapter for the sail / accessory mounts. The fitting (Wedge Mount) is for Ram ball use though.

If you can actually place a fish in the outback tray to measure/photograph it then what you have there is called "bait"

Putting trays along the side rails on the Revolution would create what I think Hobie calls an Outback.

I have two revolution 13's and one is fully rigged for fishing and the other my wife did not want any rod holders added to it. I use the RAM wedge mount when I fish with a buddy. I put the wedge mount with a rod holder in the sail mast hole and works perfectly.

As far as measuring I use the Frabill bump board. It floats and I leash behind my seat. It stashes behind the seat nicely and just take it out when needed. Measure in your lap.

A Thrill Ride is being dragged around in your kayak for 40 minutes by an extremely large fish.
