I have a few extra quick release pins and shackles laying around and I would like to make my own "Quick Release Shackle & Pin with Lanyard" (similar to hobie part # 20306).

Has anyone connected the two with a SS Lanyard? If so, do you know what size SS wire you used (or what size will fit in the pre-drilled holes in 3/16 or 1/4" quick release pins)? My shackle are all screw close so I am thinking I could drill out the threads to the appropriate diameter to allow the quick release pin to engage.

If anyone has used a different material or method to make a "home made quick release shackle with lanyard" I am open to a different method too.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Jake

we use batten rope to keep pins and shackles connected together.
