I emailed Torqeedo as well about the freewheeling.
Their response: "We typically recommend not to allow prop to freewheel, since heat is generated. However, a kayak is different than a sailboat or a boat being towed, you won’t freewheel at too fast a speed."

They also mentioned they have a new blue tooth adaptor cable to control the motor w/your smartphone. ($169)

I have had some more experience and with some practice you (or your partner) can take that motor out without too much work. If you get the angle right - it slides in and locks perfectly. If I keep the motor in I'm inclined to use the prop stick and I'll live with the additional drag. The sound of the motor freewheeling makes me crazy.
I still think its the best way to go for powering the TI.

so what happens when you have the evolve on a revo with fold down rudder setup? you cant stop it rotating then
