Hey everyone.

My wife and I are joining her family in Myrtle beach in a few weeks for a week-long vacation. We are staying at the Ocean Blue Resort, south end of Ocean Blvd. We are thinking about taking our Hobie 16, but I want to be sure that we will actually be able to use it. I've got a few questions and it would be great if some of the locals could chime in. I've sailed near there before in some Surfside regattas and have sailed in Garden City, but that was quite a few years ago.

1. Is there easy beach access near the Resort and if so, where?
2. Can boats be left on the beach overnight? (I know this is becoming an almost non-existent option all along the coast)
3. Is there going to be anyone sailing in the area around the first full week of August?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Myrtle wasn't my choice. It's just convenient for the whole family. I ended up not bringing the boat for fear of how much of a hassle it would be. In retrospect I'm not too bummed, today has been the only day with good wind and we are packing up to leave. I'm a much bigger fan of more obscure nc beaches. I'll take it to Emerald Isle on our next beach trip. I've got family there but have yet to take the hobie. It's a shame that it can be so hard to get a boat on the beach these days. I'd love to hear more info on oak island.
