Here you go. This is a GREAT price. I paid $850 for mine 6 years ago !!!!! And this is better material that will not stretch as much. Kevin is a nice guy, call him.

Boat builders, sailmakers and riggers use the following four measurements to determine sail size. I, J, P and E.

Headsails

"I" = distance from the base of the mast to the where the forestay attaches to the mast

"J" = distance from tack pin at the lower end of the forestay to the front end of the mast

With those two measurements headsails and spinnakers can be developed.

If a spinnaker pole is longer than "J" then the measurement is refered to as "Jc" with the "c" standing for corrected.

If the spinnaker hoist is higher than the hounds then it is known as "Ic"

"LP" is the Luff Perpendicular and is expressed as a percentage of "J" 100% Jib or a 155% Genoa on a keelboat.

Mainsails

"P" is the maximum usable area of the mast from the boom to the top. Generally refered to as the luff length of the mainsails.

"E" is the maximum usable area of the boom from the mast to the rear of the boom

In most cases the measurements are in tenths. 8'6" is 8.5'

Hope this helps,

Chip Buck

Doug,
At Murrays page they offer 30-5104 Hardware Kit for $860 and 01-1350 H17 Crossbar Assy. for $250 which makes total of $1100 plus jib, while Hobie Catalog offers ALL (I believe) for $809 plus jib.

Bob:

Trust me I have done a LOT of research on this. The kit:
http://www.murrays.com/archive/41.pdf
Comes with the bridle foil and all the parts you need. It ALSO includes the 18" tracks with the cars and the Hexarachet Harkens that you will need for the reacher. you DON"T want the stock jib, TRUST me I bought one and tried it. You won't be happy with it. If you want BIG gains in performance get a squaretop main and a reacher. I am probably the most knowledgeable person on the matter and the 17. I have already spent the money and made the mistakes.
