Hi guys.
A lot of you ask about hooter/reacher, spinaker or genaker for wave. I decide to do a reacher (hooter) in my wave and want to share some photos and later video for you because on web is not too much information. I saw Rick project but just few pics.
My reacher is 9,5m2 (102 ft2).

Awesome. Thanks for sharing.
I did notice that with this configuration you can't use the jib. Does this sail allow you to use it close to the wind?
I've got the spinnaker setup for mine and have only used it once and that quickly led to a pitch pole. Maybe because the crew was up at the front beam.

I can use the jib also. I can't use cleats (becasue there are for jib). In that time I didn't take the jib becasue of small wind but I can i will try also.

Yes nice video:) I think that crew should go far away to back with spin! Look at my videos when I was sailing with my brother on trapeze (link in signature) - sometimes he goes far away back becasue the hull was start to dive.

Thanks for share video and your experience!

Hi guys:)

This is my first video with reacher:)
Wind was about 12-20 knots and after battery died in camera was 20-26 in gust!
With reacher we were sailing about 16-17 knots so preety fast for wave!

Is a reacher the same as a jib.
Where did you buy this?

No it is something different. Reacher (9,5m2) is much bigger than jib (2,5m2). It's more like gennaker but much more flat.

Because I'm sailing regulary between 14-15,5 knots and that time was much much faster maybe even more/ Next time I will take with me gps and let you know.
I don't want to lie or something - I want to show how much reacher is a powerful sail only that :)
Have fun:)

Great, I would love to know the max wind speed & GPS boat speed you can get with the reacher.

Hi Kuba. I'm new here, just bought me a new Hobie wave. I'm from Slovenia, not far away from you... One question. Can you tell something about your jib sail. This is not stock one I think. Hou you fix it? In front and behind. I'm not good in English, but I think you understand ..
Greetings from Slovenia

Hello Kuba, greetings from Mexico.
Could you tell me how you did your reacher and Jib?
I'd like to get a one for my wave. I have the stock Jib but I see you use a different one.
Could you give me the specifics? for the sails and rigging?
Thank you very much.

Thanks Kuba.

Do you have some more pictures of the setup?
How far up do you fix the head of the reacher?
And the Jib?

I assume you also use a self made bow sprit, right?
Do you have the lenght?

I'll be working on copying your desingn and hopfully get it right.
If I manage to do it, i'll pos some pictures of it.

Thanks and great winds for all of you.

Alex

I don't have more pictures but the photos in this topic should help you.
Head of jib (block) is attached 10 cm below the forestay.
Head of reacher I don;t know:) I took sail and measure (when hobie was lay on side).

Bow sprit is a half of windsurfer mast, mine was 222 cm long but 220-240 will be good also.

Have a good fun with this :)
Regards!

Great work Kuba.
Any chance you could measure for us how far up from the original forestay tang your reacher tang attachment hole is?

Thanks
