Guys:

I have one of the Sunrise brands from these guys. Going on 5 years and no problems at all. It is dark blue mesh. Wings show no wear at all. Even stood up to broken boom doing etch at sketch across in.

I appreciate that very much. I am going to tape-up my sails for now while I look around. Should be sailing today, can't ski !!

Hey guys, first time on this string since last summer. Sorry for falling out of touch and yes, I did go over to the dark side after selling the H17 this past summer.

Nick, my apologies for not responding to emails. The BeachCats has a huge problem with dropping emails from/to the classified section. I've had several exchanges with the webmaster but he can't seem to identify the problem.

Later, I did post my phone number in the ad and have had many calls.

If interested I have one remaining new Sabre Sails squaretop, a set of Hot Rod battens and some other parts. post back and I will check in periodically.

Sail fast, Tom G

Well, I got the new sails - sweet. And installed a new 8:1 downhaul, new wing seats, a 12" x 8' sail tube and de-winterized last weekend (the boat is lookin good). I hope to be out on the water next weekend. If all goes as planned, I'll attach pictures next week. 8)

Hey Tom (Dark Side Racer) I'm the guy that refered Nick to you and suggested you went to the Dark Side after selling the Hobie. I'm baaack! What do you have for H17 mainsail? How much? I'm really trying to keep the cost down as I'm also selling the boat. Do you know anyone that has a decent used one that isn't totally delaminated? Let me know, it'd be appreciated. Ralph - [email protected] Thx.

Hey Ralph, long time....having loads of fun on the dark side! The Beachcat guys pretty much picked me over on H17 parts and sails this winter. I will look over what remains and let you know. I recall centerboards and a few odds and ends remaining. All my stocker sails are sold....one new condition Sabre Sails square top remains. Used it about 4 times before the season ended and then sold the boat. Nice full cut for a huge off and down-wind performance push.

Do you still have my email address? , Tom G

I see Chip added the picture of my new sail to the Whirlwind web site, http://www.whirlwindsails.com/photos.htm , chipping (pun intended) away at my 15 minutes of fame.

Hey guys;
I don't post much and I visit every now and then. Just wondering a few things about this squaretop sail that's been discussed.
1: Is it actually a Hobie sanctioned sail? If not, how do they get away with Hobie's flying H on the top?

2: If it is a Hobie Class Legal sail, what class do you race in? I can't imagine you could race head to head with another boat that has a full-cut sail could you? Or are there enough Hobie boats with that type of sail in your area to constitute a fleet?

Just curious.

No - it's not a class legal sail. You can buy the class logo as a sticker and put it on anything.

I'm fairly certain these guys use it for recreational sailing, especially since there's no class racing for the sport version (with the jib). Doesn't stop them from racing Portsmouth, though.

Squaretop has great Portsmouth numbers. AND the performance difference is AMAZING!!!! I added a 78 sq ft reacher too.
