Ditto, but with a scrap of closed-cell foam carpet/tile underlay!

Here's another mod I found on the forum that is suitable for this post.

Scupper hole drain.

More Hand-Friendly Mirage Drive Bungee

A six-inch piece of garden hose over the Mirage Drive bungee makes it quicker/easier to hook/un-hook.

A bicycle handlebar grip would probably look/work better.... but I had the garden hose...

More Hand-Friendly Front Hatch Attachment

Maybe I should start a third thread "Micro Mods".... -)

I find that removing/replacing the front deck hatch becomes significantly easier after supplementing the webbing tabs with a couple of rope handles:

Red, of course for port and green for starboard....

Pete I love those webbed tramps! I could use those for the upcomming Texas 200. How are they working g
out?

Just one tramp so far - on the starboard side.

So far, so good. My 215# of lard has not succeeded in breaking it and I had it out on Sunday when it was gusting over 25 mph and did not notice any additional tendency to pitchpole or capsize.... there probably was some, but I did not perceive it.

I did wind up ripping the stitches out and re-sewing the cross straps.

Reason: If you lay it all out on a nice flat floor, staple the strap intersections just so, sew it up, and then mount it between the akas and apply tension it all goes South....For reasons not apparent to my spatial relationship-challenged mind, the fore-aft straps on each side assume a slightly curved shape - introducing slack into the cross straps.

The cure was to turn the boat on it's side, rip the stitches, and the re-staple the cross straps nice and snug with the fore-aft straps under tension - in their native curved state.... and *then* sew it all back together.

I also added little circles of line around the fore aka to keep the straps from wandering port-starboard....although, in retrospect, it seems not needed.

Here are a few pix of the latest iteration where you can see the curves:
https://picasaweb.google.com/1081497986 ... 6019012050

The next step will be to try to get rid of that d-ring interface between the two sections (held together by the yellow line). ..... It's there because I was not confident in my ability to get all the straps attached with uniform lengths...but it turned out the d-ring spacings under lashing were identical, so I am hoping I can get rid of them.

I just made another mini-mod by lashing a block on to the forward mainsheet cheek block to make the 3/16's sheet run more freely and give some angle adjustment when I am sailing without the cleat..... Then, come warmer water/weather, the first thing I will try is sailing in outrigger canoe mode - sitting on the tramp with the block allowing the cleat-less mainsheet to run freely at the different angle. Steering is still up for grabs, but I see plenty posts showing various solutions....

Tramp looks smoking hot to boot. Love to see what people come up with for mods on this forum. Mods are at least half the fun. That's the beauty of a roto molded trimaran. Like working with Legos at age 57.

True, dat...

And whenever I piss and moan about the shortcomings I perceive in my AI; somehow I neglect to report all the hours of amusement I have had thinking about and fooling around with modifying it.

I have to wonder if it's some sort of personality quirk.

Cover Akas with Windsurfer Boom Grip

viz: https://picasaweb.google.com/1081497986 ... 9275749810

Ball-peen hammer for dramatic effect....

  • Better grip if/when...
    .
  • More hand-friendly when it's cold
    .
  • No more concerns about scratching/scraping/banging during storage/transport

Not too bad looking in spite of the nasty seams around the curves.
