I am going to be making another batch of cooler racks.
Could be your only chance to get a new rack!
See this post for details! https://www.hobiecat.com/forums/viewtop ... =7&t=56833

Post up on that thread if your interested. Just seeing how much more material to get.

Original on left, freshies on right.

You should mimic the original mounting slots which are angled. I think that will help adjusting the elevation of the rack in relation to what cooler is used. You may also consider building your cooler racks that fit a more insulated cooler than the Playmate. It has no insulation in it's lid. I like a cooler with a flat top so it can double as a seat too. Just my thoughts....

Remember that small is better than big here. :D

I am very open to other ideas.
I stuck with original for this batch as everyone always asks me where to get them when they see mine. I got tired of the sad look on their face when I told them they are long gone.

Easy to scale up or down or modify.

Far as the slots go...I wondered why the original was angled. So I made one straight to test before I milled the rest. They work perfect straight with the original hardware. No issues there so I made em straight.

Note I have not drilled the top as I have not gotten hardware yet.

Pics from test.
This is how mine is always ran. As high as you can get it. I have no idea why you would want to lower it. I am guessing the slots are to fit other boats!

and lowered.

I rock a cooler like this usually in mine.
Its a little loose but works fine.

Have you considered building a wider rack with less depth? Something that could either clip on or screw into the front rail and use the stabilizer for stability and support as this rack appears to. Nothing to carry a heavy load, thinking it might be nice to throw a backpacking tent and small bag in for overnight trips. Conceptually, similar in shape to a hitch cargo carrier for autos. Would definitely buy.

I think they were angled so the clamp would stay perpendicular to the dolphin striker. But nearly perpendicular is probably good enough.
