Another tech question for the Hobie shop ....
The US T2 has the shortened skeg-protector strip. Consequently, the forward brass-insert holes spaced (every ~18") along the keel that used to hold the full-length keg protector on the European Tatoo have no use on the US version. These holes have a teflon/plastic screw filling the non-functional holes.

Can I remove these screws because they make for very bumpy rolling onto and off the trailer?
One of these has already had its head sheared off, so it may only be a matter of time before the bumpy rolling problem goes away!
Or, can we get the full-length skeg strips in the US?
Thanks much!

You don't want the full length keel strip. It effects performance in a negative way. The keel strip is not in alignment with the water flow while sailing, so the strip causes a lot of drag. Euro sailing clubs like them for wear resistance.

You can knock of the heads of the nylon caps, remove and fill... whatever works.

excellent! I'll try the "remove and fill" with something like a rubber plug. It doesn't look like there's any opening into the keel/hull interior.

No opening thru to the hulls.

Matt - would it improve performance to remove the keel strips entirely? I do not drag my T2 across the beach.
