I just installed my new self tacker. Great. Now, I have the following question: Is there any simple system (I am thinking about some kind of blockers) to limit the traveler position other than lines?

thanks

I know you said anything but adding a line, but the easiest way is to add a line. We tie one end of a line off to the traveler car on the self tacker track, go down through the spin pole yoke attachment, under the forward x-bar and then up through the grommet in the front of the tramp and use the same cleat the roller furling line is used for. We hardly ever adjust it, but in case we want to we have that option. Simple, no extra holes or hardware needed.

I've also seen boats with holes drilled in their track to put a stop which I don't recommend. Another stop I've seen is wraping line around the track from the end of the track to where you want the traveler car to stop and then the line is tapped up so it looks better.

I know there are other systems out there.

Anybody out there?

Thanks Greg ---> it looks smart.

Other question: as the sheet line is pulling very vertically instead of diagonally (with the regular sheets), I have hard time to trim my jib like I did before. May be it is not so important? or does the jib needs modification?

All jibs should work with the self tacker but you may have to rig it differently than how you had it before. You said that the sheeting angle is more vertical rather than at an angle as it was before. It will take a little experimenting to get the jib flying right but here's a few things you should try: 1st, move your jib blocks all the way down on the clew chain plate which is all you have to do in most cases. If that doesn't work, the next thing to experiment with is where your jib tack is placed on the forestay adjuster, it should be as close to the bottom as you can get it but if your sheeting angle isn't correct you may need to adjust it upwards. That should do it, your goal is to get the jib tell tales flowing evenly from top to bottom.
