I am adding my very long Lowrance Structure Scan Transducer to the rear of my kayak. The transducer is already bolted to a 6061 T6 aluminum plate that form fits perfectly to my hull. Now all I need to do is permanently attach the plate to the hull WITHOUT using any bolts, screws or modifying my hull in any way.

I am looking for permanent double sided tape, some sort of glue or any other methods that bonds to high density polyethylene.

Any body have any idea? I don't want the transducer popping off every time a gator wraps a line around it.

you probably want to ask this in the kayak/fishing forums and not the sailing forums: viewforum.php?f=53

HDPE is difficult to bond (a couple years ago I would have said impossible)...especially in a marine environment. Suggest you Google HDPE glue and pick one of the new products...but I'd add a safety line to the aluminum just in case.

Have you considered one of the RAM transducer arm mounts for LSS1 & 2 (part no. 72023037)? This arm mount is specifically suited for the StructureScan, and would only require drilling to thru-bolt the RAM ball base to the gunnel of your kayak. Takes 1" RAM Ball.

I would think hdpe would be invisible to your sonar head, just wondering if you can glue to the inside.
Just a thought
