When do they usually come out and are there any news about what is going to be different. I am in the market to buy one for myself and an outback for my son.

Soon as a dealer can get it into stock after September 1st. We start building 2018 models in July / August.

I'm also in the market for a new boat. But I'm going to wait two more weeks for iCast 2017 just in case Hobie pulls something out of their sleeves. Last year they revealed the 180MD at iCast.

I spotted a recent youtube video that goes over the 2018 - Hobie PA 14

Changes are minor tweaks to the mirage drive. Shifter Cable upgrades and mirage drive. No new colors. Shifter cables will be available as an upgrade to existing owners.

However, I spoke to a dealer that hinted that he felt Hobie was going to announce something new for 2018. According to him, he's been advised that it's in his best interest to unload his 2017 inventory.

Take that how you may......

We didn't display any new products at ICAST.

2018 introductions are being done at Surf Expo and a new show at the end of August Paddlesports Retailer in Madison WI.

Fin and shifter updates shown in this clip are no charge via warranty if they fail.

I'm just now looking into a pedal drive kayak and I have decided that the Hobie pro angler 14 is the boat for me. I'm ready to pick one up but I want to make sure that there are no major changes for 2018. From what I just read on this thread the September surf expo 7th-9th is the soonest I will know if there will be any changes to the PA 14. Is there anyway to find out sooner? Will my local Hobie dealer be able to tell me any sooner?
Thanks.

There will probably be one change...a price increase. :D I wouldn't anticipate anything major being last year was the first year of the Mirage 180 drive. Unless it's something related to the hull itself, you can always add whatever new add-on piece that might be introduced in the 2018 model. Can't fish out of one if you're waiting on one. :D

You will love it!

The only thing I can ask for are more color selections... I am tired of their bland, 3 colors. Yes, I know a wrap is possible, but come on... Give us some different colors, like the popular sea foam color....

So, the 2018 fin update is just simply swapping out the parts where the fins attach should the current unit fail, allowing the 2017 unit to become identical to the 2018?

I wonder if a 2017 boat could be ordered with a 2018 drive which should be at least a few hundred dollars cheaper?

I recently purchased a 2017, and it came with the updated Mirage Drive 180.

For clarification, are you implying that the Pro Anglers in the ICast 2017 video were 2017 models and not 2018?
