Had the wave out at the outer banks North Carolina last week. Was able to take it out in 30 mph winds and had a BLAST!!!! I couldn't believe how much fun it was! I absolutely love this boat. Sails well in low winds 5-15 mph have fun and it is an absolute SCREAM in higher winds.

Where we were sailing water depth was shallow and it was great to not have to worry about boards.

Thought I would share experience and say well done hobie.

Welcome to the "Club."

I've raced mine (otherwise wouldnt've been on the water like a big chicken) in mid-twenties with gusts in the high 20s. It was a blast! Hard for the Wave to get away  from you. Just grab the main sheet between the blocks when gybing.

Hello Guys
I am sailing in Belgium on the Channel (North Seas).
This is difficult water: understream, waves, sandbanks, gusts,....
I never capsized with my Wave, because I never take it out when it is more than 15 knots...

Am I a sissy...keep in mind my age...61!

thanks

The Wave excels in winds 15-20+ I love it in higher winds. I'm gonna be 60 this year, so not far behind you. I am also about 215 lbs, so can hold it down. Sit as far aft as you can get and sheet in! Of course wave and currents can make it more difficult, so be careful!

Like Matt said, the wave is a blast in stronger winds. I don't go out unless it is over 10 or 12 knots. I've capsized several times, and pitchpoled once, no big deal. I'm 67 years old and can't swim!

It is the perfect boat for the OBX area. Rudders kick up easily for beaching sails well in light to heavy winds and space for kids or a friend. Perfect mix in my opinion. Can't wait for kids to go to sail camp this summer.... Will start looking at Bravo's next!
